2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, with the performance Development Package, will top out at 174 mph. AMG has developed a new 5.5-liter biturbo mill, but the C63 keeps 6.2-liter V8, so output remains at 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Some early reaction is mixed about the new fascia design, but all told, the new C63 is yet another gift to MB fans. The output of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine is unchanged at 336 kW (457 hp) and can be increased to a maximum of 358 kW (487 hp) with the optional AMG Performance package. Agility, grip and ride comfort have been enhanced as a result of numerous measures to optimise the AMG sports suspension. The C63’s headlights have been revised for 2012 and a new front fascia houses LED DRLs. The C63’s rear lights also get the LED treatment and new 18-inch wheels are on tap for 2012.The 2012 C63 AMG will go on sale this fall alongside the rest of the 2012 C-class lineup, and makes its debut at March’s Geneva auto show. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but we don’t expect it to stray too far from the current base price of $61,175. There’s still no official info on the C AMG coupe—or any two-door C-class, for that matter—but we expect details on it soon.
